The next generation of video game consoles is in full swing. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo have all released their new machines and are doing everything in their power to get you to play them. Several million people have already purchased Xbox One‘s and PS4‘s and the current demand for both is outrageously high. For you early adopters out there, we’d like to use this week’s round of Nerd Wars! to figure out what games you’ve been playing on your shiny new consoles. Continue Reading
The creators of Family Guy announced that one of the Griffins would die this season back in July at Comic-Con. The world was shocked when last week’s episode revealed that the beloved family pet, Brian Griffin, was the character to meet his tragic ending. While Family Guy is now a mere shell of what it once was, we can vividly remember a time when it reigned as king of the animated TV world and it was very depressing to witness the death of such a classic character. I think we were all secretly hoping Chris would get the Axe… Seriously, when has he ever been funny?
Dead Rising has always been the most ridiculous series of zombie games ever made. Dead Rising 3 keeps that tradition alive with the addition of more zombies than you’ve ever seen on the screen at one time. I’ve completed one playthrough so far and I’ve already captured some golden footage thanks to the magic of the Xbox One Game DVR. Here are a couple of my favorites. Continue Reading
Next-gen is officially in full effect with the launch of the Xbox One. The “Big Three” have released their new consoles. Sony and Microsoft are obviously more in than the spotlight than Nintendo right now and for good reasons. The Xbox One and PS4 were both welcomed with phenomenal releases and both consoles sold over 1 million units in 24 hours. The Wii U hasn’t even hit 4 million units sold since it’s launch over a year ago… We love Nintendo and wish them the best in all their endeavors, but seeing such massive sales numbers from your is never something investors like to see. If this were a zombie apocalypse, Nintendo would be the weak, vulnerable guy we leave behind to be eaten by the undead.
A new Legend of Zelda is soon upon us and it’s a sequel to one of our all time favorites, A Link to the Past. The game features a new mechanic whereby Link can transform into a drawing on a wall and move about in an LSD freak out. It got us thinking about how What’s Your Tag’s global HQ needed a little sprucing up. Hopefully Link has some captured fairies to survive our home improvements.
At this point I think most of us have beaten the Elite Four and began the arduous task of “catching ‘em all.” With a total of 718 known Pokemon, this is no easy task. The Friend Safari is an amazing way to expand your Pokedex and even your social circle. I want to use this post as a public forum for anyone to come and share their 3Ds friend codes. Remember what they say? The more the merrier! Continue Reading
“Chaining” will be the death of me. If you’ve played Pokemon, you’re probably familiar with the illusive “shiny” Pokemon. These super rare creatures give your a Pokemon a shiny new color scheme and are eagerly hunted by many. What you may not know is that the odds of finding a shiny Pokemon in the wild is 1/8192. Through the magic of “chaining” you can drop your odds to 1/200, which is still less than a 1% chance. I’ve spent the last week tirelessly hunting for a shiny of my very own. No luck so far…. If you feel like sending your life into a downward spiral, Kotaku has an amazing diagram explaining the basics of chaining.
And yeah, I turned the name of the villain in X/Y into an adjective, that’s just how I roll.
Last month at IndieCade 2013 Mileson had the opportunity to try out the Oculus VR headset. It was his first experience with virtual reality technology since the disastrous Virtual Boy. He promised to write-up his impressions of the this new technology, but we thought it might be better to channel those feelings into a new comic. Behold the unbridled potential of virtual reality.
Note: His experience was unfortunately not nearly this steamy. Continue Reading
Happy Halloween everyone! We wish you a merry, scary, and even hairy Halloween! Be sure to eat enough candy to make yourself sick and then wash it down with the cheapest liquor you can possible find! Oh and by the way, this broom isn’t completely random. It’s our arch nemesis Stephanie Meyer Luck from such comics as Year One and Cashing In.
Halloween is nearly upon us! Chances are you attended some outrageous Halloween party this last weekend and chances are you saw countless drunk people trying to pick up chicks in ridiculous costumes. Halloween is amazing simply because it’s the one special night of the year where you could see Ada Wong hook up with Mario.
