This past week the guys over at Exploding Rabbit announced the latest version of Super Mario Bros. Crossover. This is the fantastic and brilliant free game that let’s you play through Super Mario Bros. with characters like Mega Man, Simon Belmont, Samus Aran, and so many more. If you’ve never played Super Mario Bros. Crossover, stop everything you are doing, even breathing. Yes, I want you to hold your breath until you have clicked here and started playing version 2.1.
It’s like The Avengers of 8-bit gaming.
Yoshi and Mario have been through a lot together. They’ve explored distant lands and conquered even the toughest of Bowser’s challenges. It hasn’t also been a fair relationship though. One of them always seemed to get the short end of the stick. It was too much for the poor green guy to handle. After enough abuse, anyone would crack.
This past week week, Sony unrelieved the Playstation 4. Which may very well turn out to be the ultimate gaming machine. So what is Nintendo to do? Well, it might be time to go hardcore. The guys over at Rocket Jump, have released the final map of Super Mario Bros. 3 in first person. Call of Duty, eat your heart out… or not it’s up to you:
Of course first person isn’t for everyone, so what about going more Skyrim? Clintmich has created what might be the pinnacle of Skyrim mods:
Or Nintendo could just keep doing what it’s doing. The more I think about it, the more I’d like that. Happy Friday Everyone!

What is that FRAKKING MUSIC?!?!?!? It’s Friday fun videos, of course. If you hadn’t already guessed, we are starting off with some Battlestar Galactica. This one is an oldie but a goodie from College Humor, a condensed 16-bit jrpg retelling of the entire series (Spoilers-ish):
Why are we posting this? Because Battlestar Galactica is back in prequel format! Behold the first online episode thanks to Machinima:
Now that the frakking is out of the way, how about some music? First up, a 12 minute compilation of rpg songs performed by an orchestra consisting of… Mini Marios? They don’t call him Master Diwa for nothing:
Finally, the Mortal Kombat flash mob group, the Sub ZeroS has gone Gangnam style… yes this is happening:
Happy Friday everyone!
This is going to be a tough call. There are some amazing platformers out there and many people have strong opinions on their favorites. Some of the greatest games of all-time are platformers and for this week’s Nerd Wars!, we’d like to take a little time to give this genre some well deserved attention.
