Sadly yesterday we lost Harold Ramis, one of the funniest and most talented people in Hollywood. The writer/actor/director whose hand shaped classics like Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, Stripes, and of course one of my all time favorites, Ghostbusters. While not technically a video game icon (the 2009 Ghostbusters game is pretty good though), he was certainly influential in all manners of comedy and science fiction and he will be sorely missed. This past week the guys over at Exploding Rabbit announced the latest version of Super Mario Bros. Crossover. This is the fantastic and brilliant free game that let’s you play through Super Mario Bros. with characters like Mega Man, Simon Belmont, Samus Aran, and so many more. If you’ve never played Super Mario Bros. Crossover, stop everything you are doing, even breathing. Yes, I want you to hold your breath until you have clicked here and started playing version 2.1.

Yoshi and Mario have been through a lot together. They’ve explored distant lands and conquered even the toughest of Bowser’s challenges. It hasn’t also been a fair relationship though. One of them always seemed to get the short end of the stick. It was too much for the poor green guy to handle. After enough abuse, anyone would crack.
This past week week, Sony unrelieved the Playstation 4. Which may very well turn out to be the ultimate gaming machine. So what is Nintendo to do? Well, it might be time to go hardcore. The guys over at Rocket Jump, have released the final map of Super Mario Bros. 3 in first person. Call of Duty, eat your heart out… or not it’s up to you:
