Real life is never quite as entertaining as a video game. Going to court is a great example. There are no loud-mouthed, eccentric lawyers with anime hair, instead there are groups of miserable people with traffic violations uncomfortably watching disgusting burn-outs appear in court for the 25th time.
The creators of Family Guy announced that one of the Griffins would die this season back in July at Comic-Con. The world was shocked when last week’s episode revealed that the beloved family pet, Brian Griffin, was the character to meet his tragic ending. While Family Guy is now a mere shell of what it once was, we can vividly remember a time when it reigned as king of the animated TV world and it was very depressing to witness the death of such a classic character. I think we were all secretly hoping Chris would get the Axe… Seriously, when has he ever been funny?
Next-gen is officially in full effect with the launch of the Xbox One. The “Big Three” have released their new consoles. Sony and Microsoft are obviously more in than the spotlight than Nintendo right now and for good reasons. The Xbox One and PS4 were both welcomed with phenomenal releases and both consoles sold over 1 million units in 24 hours. The Wii U hasn’t even hit 4 million units sold since it’s launch over a year ago… We love Nintendo and wish them the best in all their endeavors, but seeing such massive sales numbers from your is never something investors like to see. If this were a zombie apocalypse, Nintendo would be the weak, vulnerable guy we leave behind to be eaten by the undead.
“Chaining” will be the death of me. If you’ve played Pokemon, you’re probably familiar with the illusive “shiny” Pokemon. These super rare creatures give your a Pokemon a shiny new color scheme and are eagerly hunted by many. What you may not know is that the odds of finding a shiny Pokemon in the wild is 1/8192. Through the magic of “chaining” you can drop your odds to 1/200, which is still less than a 1% chance. I’ve spent the last week tirelessly hunting for a shiny of my very own. No luck so far…. If you feel like sending your life into a downward spiral, Kotaku has an amazing diagram explaining the basics of chaining.
And yeah, I turned the name of the villain in X/Y into an adjective, that’s just how I roll.
Last month at IndieCade 2013 Mileson had the opportunity to try out the Oculus VR headset. It was his first experience with virtual reality technology since the disastrous Virtual Boy. He promised to write-up his impressions of the this new technology, but we thought it might be better to channel those feelings into a new comic. Behold the unbridled potential of virtual reality.
Note: His experience was unfortunately not nearly this steamy. Continue Reading
Happy Halloween everyone! We wish you a merry, scary, and even hairy Halloween! Be sure to eat enough candy to make yourself sick and then wash it down with the cheapest liquor you can possible find! Oh and by the way, this broom isn’t completely random. It’s our arch nemesis Stephanie Meyer Luck from such comics as Year One and Cashing In.
Halloween is nearly upon us! Chances are you attended some outrageous Halloween party this last weekend and chances are you saw countless drunk people trying to pick up chicks in ridiculous costumes. Halloween is amazing simply because it’s the one special night of the year where you could see Ada Wong hook up with Mario.
Your imagination is a very powerful thing. You can create anything your mind can think up. This isn’t always a good thing, but in the case of awesome Pokemon charactuers of yourself, it’s totally a good thing. This is a throwback to one of our favorite comics, Kirby in Imagination Land.
The video game industry is ever-growing and ever-changing, but there always seemed to be noticeable trends between the bigger companies. They spend most of their time trying to figure out the best way to copy their competitors and that leaves limited resources to create new technology. Maybe these companies need to go back to basics and try something simple, you know, like bread.
After nearly 20 years of creating Pokemon, we imagine this is what the creative process is like nowadays. Seriously, how many different variations of elemental animals can make? That’s why we are starting to see more ridiculous Pokemon like Swirlix and Vanillite, but who has time to complain with Pokemon X and Y coming out in less than a week! Despite all the outrageous announcements, we will be picking up our respective copies on day one.
