So it’s pretty apparent that Sony’s latest handheld isn’t meeting expectations, especially here in the States. It’s been less than a year since the release of the Playstation Vita and it already feels like it’s going the way of the PSP. The arbitrary date on the tombstone is the day we decided to just put the system to rest, once and for all. There may have been some miscommunication along the way….

I agree that the support for the Vita seems lax, but like the 3DS, the Vita will level out once it upgrades its library. I know I plan on using it more on the 28th, when I can play old ps1 titles, and when P4: The Golden, and ZOE HD Collection comes out.
So I wouldn’t call it dead yet. I’d give it, at the very minimum, at least a year.
Exactly…be fair now…We have P4 Golden, the whole cross play system ramping up, and Dragon’s Crown coming up. Not to mention the Assassin’s Creed version for the Vita looks really awesome and seems to hit the whole female protagonist out of the park without making it sexist.
Sony has honestly announced some pretty exciting features recently, but these are all things that should have bee ready to go at launch. When you go 6 months without putting out a game people want, it tends to doom the life of a console. Sony has got to really step it up if they plan on legitimately competing with the 3DS.
There is still a chance for the Vita to really take off. If Sony had planned a Monster Hunter game for launch it would have already blown up. Sony’s lack of first party support isn’t helping the system survive and many developers have complained that programming games for the Vita is more work than it’s worth.
I traded in my 3DS to get a Vita, and I regret it after seeing the library expand. I don’t plan on making the same mistake with the Vita.
But goddamn would a Monster Hunter, or good JRPG be a shot in the arm for the Vita.
Yeah I bought my 3DS for 250 bones and I was very upset with the initial launch lineup, but Nintendo managed to completely turn things around with some really solid releases.
Hey guys, I nominated you for an award.
