Since I started my game first with Chimchar and not the others, I will have to go with him.
Plus he’s the cutest starter in my opinion. 
He was also my starter Pokemon for this generation. That little fiery monkey warmed my heart.
I normally go with fire pokemon…but who can ignore a PENGUIN!

Voted Piplup, but I hated everything about this gen, including the starters.
How can you hate chimchar? Look at that face.
Ha, well I’m actually replaying Diamond right now and I did choose Chimchar because I wanted a Fire-type this playthrough (don’t usually use them), but I still think all the monkey Pokemon look like crap. Mankey, Chimchar, Pansear/pour/sage, Darmanitan…the only one I kind of like is Aipom, and he’s utterly useless.
I kind of agree. Most of the monkey Pokemon look pretty silly. And the Pan-whatever Pokemon in Black and White were absolutely terrible.
