Sony confirmed an exciting new feature coming to the Playstation 3 and more importantly the Playstation Vita at Gamescon today, called “Cross Buy.” What this means is that when you buy a PS3 game, such as Playstation All-Stars: Battle Royale, you will receive the PS Vita version for free. We can also look forward to Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault as Cross Buy games.
This is an gigantic step in the right direction for Sony and the PS Vita. While sales have drastically increased in Japan, many folks in the US have not fully accepted the Vita and many critics feel it’s simply due to the lack of content and support on Sony’s end. This could be just the right kind of fan service the Vita needs to truly take off.
Yeah, Vita needs a shot in the arm.
It seriously does. It has so much potential, it just needs that first party support.
Many of the podcasts that I listen to seem to feel a deep price cut is the thing that will sell Vita to the undecided – but can Sony afford to do that or would it seem to them like an acknowledgement of failure?
Unfortunately I don’t think Sony is willing to do a price drop. Reports already state that Sony is making next to nothing on the sale of hardware.
