Greetings! Once again on the slow path of time. Look! We’ve reached Friday! Ever stop and wonder, what comes after Friday? No, wait. No one does. Anyway, after this, current Friday, it’s the premier of the new season of Doctor Who! In honor of that, we are going back in time (GET IT!), to retrieve an oldie from Dorkly. Let’s watch as one of television’s and one of gaming most famous time travelers square off:
Alrighty folks, this is the last chance to vote for your favorite starter Pokemon! After this week we’ll be tallying all the results of the previous Nerd Wars! to create a master survey which will be comprised of the top choices from each of the five generations. Make sure you go and vote for your favorites! It’s super effective!
Remember the days when you had to kill townsfolk in order to obtain that perfect piece of real estate? Skyrim addressed that issue by allowing you to purchase a house in every major city, which was amazing. Some of the houses though were really just glorified shacks with a bed giving you close to no customization. Well not anymore! Hearthfire, the new DLC for Skyrim, will allow you to purchase a plot of land and build your own house from the ground up complete with all the workbenches, gardens, and enchanters you could ever want. So it’s pretty apparent that Sony’s latest handheld isn’t meeting expectations, especially here in the States. It’s been less than a year since the release of the Playstation Vita and it already feels like it’s going the way of the PSP. The arbitrary date on the tombstone is the day we decided to just put the system to rest, once and for all. There may have been some miscommunication along the way….
It looks like the Xbox Live Arcade is getting it’s first free-to-play RPG. Happy Wars is a very cutesy looking action/role-playing game exclusively for the Xbox 360 and completely free for all Xbox Live Gold members. You have complete customization of your characters appearance and if the 1000′s of items included with the game aren’t enough to satisfy your appetite for apparel, you have the option of shelling out some cash for some new digs. The large scale multiplayer is very enticing and for the cost of nothing, you can’t really go wrong.
Grab a pint of bitter, my duckies, mods and rockers alike, it’s time for a Retro Revisited of Grand Theft Auto: London 1969. The game was pretty unique for it’s time being the first expansion pack for a PS One game, an idea so unique that someone, somewhere should have realized it was terrible. To break down how an expansion pack for a PS One game works, first you would insert GTA: London 1969, at which point you were asked to insert the original Grand Theft Auto, at which point you were asked to re-insert, GTA: London 1969. This has to be repeated every time you want to play. Every Time. I get game companies being greedy and all, but really they could have just saved everyone time and made this a stand alone budget title. Continue Reading
